Welcome to IIE San Francisco

In 1952, the IIE San Francisco was established to provide academic advising and support services for a small group of Fulbright scholarship recipients attending universities in the Northwest region of the United States. Since then, IIE San Francisco has grown to design and manage a wide range of scholarship, training, and capacity building programs for foundations, corporations, the U.S. government, and foreign ministries around the world.

Technology opens borders. Educational and professional exchange opens minds.

As the Bay Area has become a global leader in innovation, technology and entrepreneurship, IIE San Francisco has developed programs designed to draw upon the expertise of the local community. Some programs connect social media experts and Silicon Valley businesses with local NGOs and technical women in the Middle East and North Africa. Other programs connect international scholars and emerging leaders to the local community through professional exchanges, school visits, and community service events. Through our diverse programs, IIE San Francisco remains a leading resource for increasing the capacity of people to think and work on a global and intercultural basis.

Center for Women’s Leadership Initiatives

IIE San Francisco houses one of four global IIE Centers of Excellence – the Center for Women’s Leadership Initiatives. With significant expertise, capabilities and best practices on which to draw, the Center for Women’s Leadership Initiatives (WLI) develops and manages dynamic, innovative and substantive programming to cultivate and support women as leaders of change around the world.
